It was a show of power and
strength. And especially boys just love to arm wrestle with each other and the
winners bully around in the class for fun. It also involves some teasing and
kidding with friends. 214 Participants got ready to display their physical
prowess at an event organized by Staples Service League. And yes by doing so
history set in at Westport’s Staples High School.
The previous world record for
the most people arm wrestling counted to 206 persons and was set by Bul
Dog Gin
during the Bull Dog Challenge in London. Members
of the Staples community joined together for the record attempt to raise funds
for the Staples Service League for Boys (SLOBs) and its Service Sunday, the
group's annual day of service in the community.
Technique and arm strength are two major
contributing factors that determine the success in this competition. The SLOBS'
world record attempt aims to raise $10,000 to fund construction projects the
service group plans on behalf of organizations and individuals.
Building
homes for the welfare of the community and civilization would facilitate better
fulfillment of wants. The fundraising goal is $10,000—the amount needed
to cover the cost of supplies. The entry fee for today's event was $5 per
person.
Every first Sunday of May all the SLOB Families come together
to perform construction, landscaping and painting projects for ABC House,
department of Human Services and Homes with Hopes.
It was more to do with the
mind apart from physical ability. Doing any good act has to first be a mental initiative
only them the act could done well with satisfaction and also reap good results.
The venture would help
thousands of families to fetch good homes for themselves and thus thereby
reduce the number of homeless in the region.
The most number of people
arm wrestling counted to 214 and was set by Staples High School at Westport,
Connecticut, United States of America on March 11, 2011.
