It's not every day that 28,000 square feet of grass is rolled onto the Hawthorne Bridge for a giant picnic and the famous Voodoo
Doughnuts guys show up to the party to try to break a world record.
That's exactly what went on the bridge, which was transformed from a
busy thoroughfare that connects the eastside and west side of town to a quiet,
peaceful park setting with a birds-eye view of the Willamette River.
Voodoo delivered a jumbo-sized pink box filled
with 3,880 doughnuts to the Hawthorne Bridge; the giant, pink cardboard box
measured nearly 200 cubic feet and ended up weighing 666 pounds- setting the
new world record for the Largest box of doughnuts.
The
previous world record for the largest box of doughnuts was a Krispy
Kreme Box which weighed 135 Kg and was
set by The Kuwait food Company Americana
in Kuwait. About 1400 persons had assembled there and all of them got their due
share of doughnuts.
Tres
Shannon co owner of Voodoo Doughnuts said that
they might have as well set another record of delivering 666 pounds of
doughnuts in just 45 minutes. Shannon further added that the setting of the world record there was the best way to give back to the city of Portland that had
been so good to them.
The
Largest box of doughnuts weighed 666
pounds and was set by Voodoo Doughnuts at Portland, Oregon, United States of America
on August 8, 2011.
