Longest Soccer Marathon

Joey’s soccer club   Australia’s under 17 National Football association team represents youthful football competition. The young team with robust enthusiasm played for 32 hours and 50 minutes.  The previous world record for the longest game was 30 hours and 10 minutes.
The longest game was also one of the highest scoring. Joeys’ blue team overcame a second Joey’s side 315-296.

Seamus Jabour was the star of the match, scoring an amazing 82 goals. Joey’s players from Grafton, Tenterfield, Inverell, Armidale, Moree, Tamworth, and Lightning Ridge took part in the memorable feat.

Joeys FC founder Heinrich Haussler said it was an amazing effort by the players who faced challenging conditions.

Organizer Phil Donnan said a number of factors meant the big match could not go for 40 hours as originally intended.
Donnan further added that the team had a late start and were also short of few players but the guys out there did a incredible task for them. The club needed three attempts before they even got onto the park to try and break the record. Before the current attempt they had staged two trials but it their efforts got perished due to rain.
Haussler said event organizer Phil Donnan did a fantastic job along with Sharyn Donnan, Rob Eccles and the dedicated referees and parents. He also said the organizers appreciated the support of sponsors Goodman Fielder, Country Energy and Hungry Jacks.
The longest Soccer Marathon lasted for 32 hours 50 minutes and was set by Joey’s Soccer Club at Armidale, Australia on February 5, 2008.
