With space enough for only two
seats and a ledge for a table, this could just be the world's smallest coffee
shop. Owner Adam Lowiss, 28, says his Little Espresso Co can
accommodate just four people at any one time - two seated and two in the queue.
He currently serves
just 35 customers a day in Lincoln city centre with clients clamouring for
space on two stools and an 80cm ledge in
the 2m sq area. At peak times, they
are even happy to queue in the rain such is the draw of the tiny shop.
Adam believes that his coffee shop may even beat the unofficial smallest shop The Window in Norwich which measures a huge five square meters. He adds that people come into the shop to see the novelty and love the intimate atmosphere in there. People are amazed and remark that they have not seen a shop a s small as this one. Adam had taken over the bijou property and opened business in Silver street after several weeks of refurbishment. The shop is Sandwiched between an estate agents and a bridal wear shop on one of Lincoln's busiest streets, he says customers love seeing a small business arrive in the recession. And he says he is not bothered by The Window, with its one table and a bench for its customers, being a rival to his smallest coffee shop crown. Adam confidently admitted that he warded off any competition and told even if a shop had a window and a table it could hardly get smaller than his Little Espresso. He feels that the his shop’s unique selling proposition is that it offers a different experience to its customers unlike the common coffee shops which offer its clients the same old style. The fact that inspite of the shop being so small it attracts so many people has been a great achievement till date. Adam also voiced that if customers are to keep coming back to you then the coffee and the snacks have got to be good enough. Adam from Horncastle, Lincolnshire offers sandwiches, paninis and cakes to go with his best selling lattes and cappuccinos.

He has run clubs, pubs and
National trust in the past but running a coffee shop seems to be the perfect
natural choice for him.
The smallest coffee shop measured
a little more than two meter square and was set by The Little Espresso
Company run by Adam Lowiss at Silver
street, Lincoln, London, United Kingdom on March 15, 2012.
