Largest Macarena Dance

It is raining dance show everywhere. Eggbuckland  Community College was also no different in this regard. About 2226  staff and students  did a Macarena dance  for over five minutes  and had a gala time  burning the dance floor. The idea was created by a 16-year old student at Eggbuckland Community College, Daniel Phillips. Phillips  is a member of the student leadership team and he made the proposal which was approved by school governors. Daniel was inspired by the desire to leave a legacy for his school before finishing his compulsory education and to embody the Olympic values of Friendship and Excellence.
From making training films, visiting local schools and businesses, Daniel coordinated a team of students, teachers and members of the community to take the record from a school in Canada.
Katrina Borowski   the principal of Eggbuckland Community College said that the show demanded months of meticulous planning  but Daniel and his team had really put up a good spirit.
The previous world record for the largest Macarena dance counted to 1861 participants and was set by Ancaster School  in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada.
Macarena is a Spanish dance sung by Los Del Rio  which  talks about a woman of the same name. The song appeared  in the  1994  A mi  me gusta   album and became an instant international sensation  throughout the year. The album still has a long cult following  it even today.
It was ranked the number one Greatest One-Hit Wonder of all Time by VH1 in 2002.
The Largest Macarena Dance counted to 2226 participants of the Eggbuckland Community College at Plymouth, Devon ,United kingdom on July 12, 2011.
