Largest Ginger Bread Man

A Ginger   Bread Man is  usually a biscuit or a cookie which is given a  humanoid shape with stubby feet and no fingers.  They also have other decorations in common like icing, chocolate or other candies stuck to it. The mission of Dane County CASA is to be an independent voice for abused and neglected children who are under the legal protection of the Dane County Court System. We do this by training, supporting and supervising community-based volunteers who advocate for these children in the community and in the courts with the goal of establishing them in safe, permanent homes as soon as possible.

Children are so fond of  the ginger bread man that  Dane County CASA  erected the tallest ginger bread man  to raise sufficient funds   to ensure the safety of kids. The Dane County  special legal eagles  and luminaries  unveiled the 26 ft  and 2 inches tall ginger bread man. It was created by Dave Bowden  as a part of the ginger bread cookie factory.

Mary Beth Collins, the executive director of Dane County Court Appointed Special Advocates, said Dave Bowden of  market street dinner created the gingerbread man as part of the "Gingerbread Cookie Factory" fundraiser at the Hilldale Mall in Madison. Bowden had the goal to create the tallest gingerbread man  and hence Dane County approached Bowden  to do it for which Bowden readily agreed.

 The event also included a gingerbread house decorating competition and performance by members of the UW marching band. It took more than a week to bake the  tallest human shaped ginger bread man. The county had roped in Bowden to create such a mammoth human giant figure so that the event could garner funds  to promote child well being and prohibit child abuse  and help neglected children. To do all this the  county needed the much required funds to actually get their hands and minds together to work for the juvenile cause.

Madison-area companies were invited to participate in a gingerbread house or “casa” decorating competition. 

   A gingerbread man is a cookie made of gingerbread, usually in the shape of a stylized human, as per the name although making other shapes, especially seasonal themes, is quite common.

The CASA serves as a mentor to all those children who are undergoing a difficult phase   and provide them with a stable care and support  system.

The Largest Ginger bread man measured 26 ft,2 inches in height and was set by Dane County appointed Special Advocates at Madison, Wisconsin, United States of America.
