Biggest Catherine Wheel

An impressive fireworks has created a world record.Catherine wheel is a type of a firework  consisting of a powder-filled spiral tube, or an angled rocket mounted with a pin through its centre. When ignited, it rotates quickly, producing a display of sparks and coloured flame.
The firework is named after the instrument of torture on which, according to legend, St. Catherine was to have been martyred, but which miraculously flew into pieces when she touched it.
The Lilly Fireworks Factory lit a Catherine Wheel with an impressive diameter of 32metres (105 feet) - setting the new world record for the Biggest Catherine Wheel.
The current record set by Lily Fireworks has smashed the one held in England which measured a diameter of 26 meters(85 ft) and had lasted for 12 years.
The structure was free-standing and the Catherine wheel completed 4 revolutions under its own propulsion. The  firework wheel  was designed by Lily Firework  and was fired for atleast one revolution on the eve of the annual festival  of Our Lady of the Lilies.
In Malta, Catherine wheels are very popular, and in Maltese, they call them "Irdieden". The most known place for Catherine wheels is Haz-Zebbug, where they fill a whole road with them, from small wheels to large, complex gear work. Different types of wheels – including "timed," "gearwork," and "simple" – last for different durations.
The Biggest  Catherine wheel was set by Lily Fireworks at Malta,Mqabba on June 18,2011.The event got recognised a s world record on July 10,2011.
