Tallest Sand Sculpture


If ever I were to build a sand castle, I would hope that it would be as epic as the world’s largest sand sculpture found at the Zhoushan Sand Sculpture Festival in China.A nice treat for your eyes if you had  been present  to see  the lovely sand sculptures in Zhoushan  around September 2010.The Sand Sculpture was built based on a story.More than 30 artists from home and abroad exhibit their talents, on the theme of a trip to Africa, during a sand sculpture festival here from the 12th to 29th of September, 2010. A 22.43-meter tall sculpture, depicting  a Nigerian tale on how a hummingbird becomes  the king of all animals, was competing for the title of World’s tallest sand sculpture.Over 20 artist spent  more than 75 days  to build the tall structure.The sand masterpiece was unveiled at the 12th Zhoushan International Sand Sculpture Festival.The sand sculpture festival, whose theme is 'scenes from a trip to Africa' took the world to a pleasant suprise by erecting this wonderful sand marvel.
The current sand sculpture proved to be a record breaker as the previous record for the Tallest Sand sculpture measured 20.91 meters.The artistic creation measuring a whopping 22.43 meters  was achieved by 30 artist from all over the world at Zhoushan, Zhejiang, China on October 6, 2010
