Soliris is a life saver.It has proved to be a bliss for all those suffering from paroxysymal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) a disorder that affects the immune system thus destroying the red blood cells at night.And this disorder has hit 8000 Americans.And Soliris sales has shooted to $295 million and now that makes it the most sought after drug too.
The drug was developed by Alexion Pharmaceuticals.The  company spokeperson  justified  by giving reasons for such a boomed price of the drug as to the $800 million Research and Development investment the company had  pooled in to develop the drug and the 15 years of considerable research involved in making the drug.
Patients do not have to dig that deep to pay for the drugs.    Insurance covers most of the costs - and there is help with high co-payments or for those with no insurance.
As Soliris is tipped for a solving a debiliatating and life threatening blood disease it is approved by the European Union which has extended the therapeutic indications of the drug.All patients treated with Soliris when administered as recommended demonstrated rapid and sustained reduction in terminal complement activity, and chronic administration of Soliris resulted in rapid and sustained reduction in complement-mediated TMA.
The most expensive drug was set by Soliris manufactured by Alexion Pharmaceuticals at Chestire,Connecticut,United States of America on February 23,2010.
