Yes we are talking about the seven good children of Crystal Lakes Elementary School who took it upon themselves to help raise funds for their friend and school mate 11 year old Maggie Schoenfield.Maggie was diagonised of acute leukemia five years back.She recently underwent a second bone marrow transplantation.
The students raised $4,773 which would directly go to Schoenfield's family.The students collected 16,177 of the 3 -inch-wide bracelets, enough to stretch the length of the mall and back. The students then linked them in a long bracelet they called Maggie’s “Rope of Hope.” They gave individual links to donors.They were happy to have raised the money which had exceeded their expectations.The students reminisced Maggie as a nice girl and a good friend .
The 900-yard bracelet — which could stretch the length of the Boynton Beach Mall and halfway back again.The current record smashed the earlier record of 1000 ft long band.Local restaurants donated food and stores donated gifts that were auctioned.
A disc jockey played some fresh DJ music and loads of cash were collected to help the friend struggling for life.Parents of the girls who participated in the fund raising campaign by making the colourful bracelets were proud of their wards noble and selfless work.
