Did you ever imagine in your wildest dream if you were stringing bottlecaps together would land you a world record recognition. That looks a little hunky dory and a cosy fairy tale. But however it would not have been so easier for the Students of the Ambrosoli International School. That left us awestruck when we saw students sporting T Shirts emblazoned with the words " I broke the world record-longest chain of bottle caps-March 18, 2012".
The pupils had strung 30,606 caps into one long chain, beating the current record of 10,714 bottle caps held by an elementary school in the United States.
It all started a s a hobby for one of the participants but never thought that this hobby pursuit would turn in to a world record attempt.Sometimes unexpected things come as a happy bang in to our lives.
Initially the four friends had 433 bottle caps. They just happened to check a website which said that the world record for the longest chain of bottle caps wee 200 but when they submitted the pictures and names the figure proved to be wrong as the longest chain of bottle caps stood at 10,714.
This disappointment brought out the mentally strong individuals within them and they thought to take that as a challenge. They approached restaurants and informed friends to collect as many bottle caps together for them. The students got the support of Fat Boyz, Just Kickin and Endiro Coffee at Kisementi; Ethiopian Village in Kabalagala, Mish-Mash restaurant in Kololo, and Royal Suites in Bugolobi, among others who were happy to help them out.The heads at their school volunteered to set up the line of bottlecaps leading to the school on the road. The bottlecaps campaign picked up momentum as even other kids chipped in five to six bottle caps everyday.
The story also says aloud unity is strength and this strength can just show you the victory doors if everything in the process falls in the right place.
The Longest string of Bottle caps totalling to 30,606 caps was set by the students of Ambrosoli International School at Bugolobi,Uganda on April 3,2012
