Paper plane is a symbol of millions of children's deepest desires to fly high up in the sky.Kids fold the paper and make it in to a shape of a plane in minutes and happily glade the plane through the air. That is point where the seeds of flying high is sown in to their young minds.Pima Air and Space Museum is keen to identify this talent early in children and inspires and motivates them to pursue it by keeping competitions like "who could create a paper plane and fly it the furthest?".During one such competition a 12 year old boy Aturo Valdenegro's design of the paper aircraft model won the contest and to encourage young minds the museum seriously thought of taking this further in to reality. The boy's model propelled him further to be a part of the team to built a larger model named Arturo's "Desert Eagle".After having created the 45 ft long plane with a wingspan of 24 ft and had a weight of 800 pounds was claimed to be the largest paper airplane ever.
A team of engineers proceeded to recreate his winning plane on a grand scale, and last week managed to fly it after releasing it from a helicopter over the Arizona desert. The 45 ft Flier was flown in to an altitude of 4000 ft towed by an helicopter and then released in to the air.The arresting visual of the paper airplane in flight could rekindle the childhood creativity in anyone. This was also voiced by one of the directors at Pima who was also a witness at the venue quoted at the moment. The plane then glided in to the air at a speed of 100mph for a good 7 to 10 seconds before falling to the ground at Tuscon,Arizona Desert.
This might have surely been an inspiration for many kids and would have served as a gateway to pursue their interest in science and aeronautics evem more.
The Largest Paper Airplane measured a 45 ft in length was set by Pima Air and Space Museum in Tuscon,Arizona,United States of America on March 24,2012.
