An effort of some die hard Lego enthusiasts ended up becaming a world record for the Tallest Lego Tower.Visitors to Legoland Windsor made their day truly special by creating a tall tower made of lego bricks.The 50th birth anniversary of Lego gets even glorified by staging the world record events.
Thousands of children and their families helped build the 100ft tall Lego tower. The Lego brick tower is shaped to resemble a Viking longboat mast .The park's special events manager was extremely thrilled to build a tower using 5,00,000 lego bricks .
The windsor resort's divisional director remarked that the current record has smashed the previous one measuring just about 29.26 meters tall held in Britain in the year 2008.the officials were happy to have superseded the earlier record in Seoul and reclaimed the title back held in 2008.
Youngsters helped build 20cm sections with each section lifted into place by a crane, with Lego engineer Bo Dahl Knudsen having placed the final brick.
The tower is designed to resemble a Viking longboat mast to mark the opening of the new Land of the Vikings at the Legoland Windsor theme park in Windsor, Berkshire. A Danish flag was planted on top, next to the Union flag, in honour of the toy's birthplace.
A previous record under the same category was built in august 2007 in toronto measuring just over 96ft.So Lego's 50th birthday was celebrated in a grand way by building a tower with almost half a million lego bricks.Fans and visiotors showed their adulation,patronage and love for the Lego brand that has been captivating the creativity of the young minds for the past half century.
The Tallest Lego tower was set by Lego Land park at Windsor,United Kingdom on May 6,2008.
