Largest Bee House


Founded in 1958, the Kent Wildlife  Trust are a registered charity  and the leading conservation organisation covering the whole of Kent and Medway.It is dedicated to protecting wildlife and wild habitats for everyone to enjoy.One of 47 Wildlife Trusts across the UK, we are a membership organisation with over 30,000 members who care about Kent’s wildlife and support our activities. Together we create a united voice to speak out on issues that affect our wildlife.
 Staff from Kent Wildlife Trust and volunteers took four hours to assemble a giant bee house which measuring 127.25 sq ft  (5m long and 2.37m high) , setting the world record for the Largest Bee House. 
The frame for the World's Largest Bee House was constructed by chartered builder Edward Morgan and it was filled with stone, bricks, pre-drilled concrete, wooden blocks and plant material. All these materials have been donated by local businesses or sourced from the trust’s own nature reserves. Inmates at Maidstone Prison have built many of the internal component parts of the structure in their workshops. 
Amanda Hamley community,fund raising manager expressed happiness at the project and lauded the efforts of the 13 wildlife volunteers,the Mayor of sevenoaks who actively took part in the event.
The Largest Bee House measured 127.25 square ft was set by kent Wildlife Trust at SevenOaks Wild Reserve,Kent,United Kingdom on August 23,2010.
