Largest Miniature Rail Road

Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg is one of the most successful tourist attractions in Germany and features more than a thousand moving trains, aircrafts, cars and ships. So for all the railroad enthusiasts we have found your Mecca.Germany has been   on the forefront  in the technological sphere.By  setting cutting edge
The Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg, Germany has 700 trains, 4,000 automobiles, 165,000 trees and 250,000 individual lights and a track lengh of 5.6 miles has set the world record for the largest miniature railroad. The Miniatur Wunderland has been build during approx. 500,000 working hours and it costed 8.7 Million Euros (in April 07).Miniatur wonderland is not owned by a corporate conglomerate but by two twin brothers Frederick and Gerit Braun.Around July 2000 Frederick happened to visit a model rail road shop in Zurich,Switzerland. This visit catapulted the idea for him to start a mega  Wonderland project in his own home country along with his brother Gerrit.
The project includes representations of the Harz, Knuffingen (a fake city), Austria, Hamburg, America, Scandinavia, Switzerland, and an Airport, with France, England, parts of Africa, and Italy also  appear on the list. Each of these places have their own attractions which are portrayed in a very meticulous way.Knuffingen has fake firemen and policemen, with working engines and sirens. America, while smaller than Hamburg, contains a tiny Las Vegas (which has 30,000 lights), Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, Yosemite Park and Cape Canaveral. Over in Scandinavia, the northern Baltic Sea is filled with 33,000 liters of running water, with low and high tide simulated every 30 minutes. A little fleet of 25 ships (soon to be operated on autopilot) float on its surface. Switzerland has a chocolate plant, and an open-air concert with 20,000 concert-goers.
One of the  finest attractions has been the Marklin$500 Big Boy which is the most expensive train from the stable .The train is made of steel and has the largest model steam locomotive .
It has always been the miniatur Wonderland's core fundamental to meet every challenges and create a technology that shall leave  the visitors enthralled and excited.
Everytime a visitor enters the wonder park he would be pleasantly welcomed with a host of new surprises.Another feature is the lights which are about 2,50,000 and can be dynamically turned on and off  with a self developed light control system.
After the completion of the Swiss section in November 2007, there are more than 1,100 m² of model area where currently more than 150 employees are working on.
The Largest Miniature Railroad  was set by Miniatur Wonderland in Hamburg,Germany in December 4,2007.
