Longest Banner Wrap

A world record event staged to  garner support for the Red Tent Movement  which aimed to end homelessness. This was a  gathering of thousands of activists who had gathered to wrap 1700 ft red banners around the block surrounding Canada Pavillion. The red tent campaign was a national movement  initiated by the Pivot legal Society for the socio welfare cause.
The protesters hope to increase support for Bill C-304, which will be reviewed by Parliament in the spring. The bill would establish a constitutional right to housing in Canada, while providing the foundation for a national housing strategy with funding commitments and timelines.
The Pivot society wanted to get the housing bill finalised and get the nation committed to building a comprehensive housing strategy. In this protest they wanted the Government to work towards eradicating the homelessness and assuring that the housing schemes would come with more stability and funding.
A world record event organised to drag the focus of the world to  the number of homeless crowds in Canada  and get the government to  pass the bill to ascertain the right to housing. The objective of setting the world record was so that the support to the campaign increases and thereby the issue would come under serious public scanner. This shall prompt the government to take steps to pass the  housing bill adequately in the upcoming session of the parliament.
So here we see some positive thinking attempted to correct long socially  plaguing issues .The protesters took out a campaign to address homelessness and make the government take up steps to pass the basic human right of living in a house.
That was a growth oriented thought process unlike staging wars and resorting to firing which can cause much damage to life and property.
The Longest banner wrap was set by Red Tent Campaign at Vancouver,Canada on March 2,2010.
