The 9th standard students of the School have every reason to cheer. They have rightfully carried out the message of the school's chairman to work towards sustainable development. The 9th standard students of Ryan International School displayed a handmade paper of an area of 1050.4 square feet - setting the new world record for the Largest piece of handmade recycled paper.
This eco friendly initiative of the students won them a world record and simultaneously they happened to break another world record in the same category. The previous world record for the Largest piece of handmade recycled paper measured a paltry 675 square ft.
The art and craft teachers have guided the students all the way through to achieve the feat.As one of the teachers pointed out that as many as 146 students participated in this mega project. The students were preparing themselves for the record event for over a month as they were accumalating waste paper in a pit. Then they started adding resins and brown paper to it.To ward off the foul smell they added some potassium permanganate to the mixture. On the day of the world record event they made a chain and spread the mixture with the help of a tray under the open sky.To prevent external moisture like few drops of rain or fog the mixture was covered with a thick large polythene sheet overnight.
An encouraging news for environmentalist and a strong message to the society and the world. The three Rs to save the Environment reduce, reuse and recycle should be adopted for the judicious use of natural resources.Environment conservation and Green initiative can help in maintaining the ecological diversity, balance and retain life forms in this planet.
