Largest Bird Feeder

Nature and environment enthusiasts can take a breather. As there is some good news for them.Steps are being taken to safeguard the  various species of animals and birds .This is a step in the right direction so that  we conserve the endangered species .The Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust 's Allerton Project  Research Farm  has taken the initiative to protect various rare species of birds by  displaying a 254 Kg Bird feeder.A birdfeederis a  bird's food  table, or tray. Feeders are devices placed outdoors to supply bird food to birds (bird feeding). The success of a bird feeder in attracting birds depends upon its placement and the kinds of foods offered, as different species have different preferences.
The objective of the Trust by setting this record was to create an awareness  of the prblems faced by the farm birds due to lack of sufficient food available during the winter months. This results in a decline in their habitat. The bird feeders are usually filled with sunflower seeds, mustard seeds, red millet and wheat.
The wildlife conservation trust hopes to encourage the farmers to feed farmland birds by growing wild bird crops  or by feeding from wheat hoppers.
Time has come to conserve the wildlife before it gets too late as some of the farmland birds are already teetering on the edge. Some of the birds like the song birds are benefitted due to the availability of bird crops and pheasant hoppers.Their number increased to almost two and half times due to abundant food availability.
Natural England is also supporting the cause by monetarily compensating the farmers for growing bird crops.A lot of green farming schemes are being taken up to promote conservation and addressing declining species fast.
The Allerton Project has pioneered methods for modern farming and conservation management techniques.
The Largest Bird Feeder was set by Allerton Project Farm at Leicestershire,United Kingdom on February 28,2009.
