Qatar Petroleum Company (Qapco) unveiled a cotton shirt, measuring over 72.2m long and 48.7m wide, weighs 6 tonnes and covers 3,516.25 sq m, which was made in support of Qatar's bid to host the World Cup in 2022 .
The event was attempted  to highlight Qatar's  likeliness in the Football Cup bid.Qatar Petroleum wanted to seek as much attention to the region,people and culture so that  it would enable to win the bid to host the FIFA football Cup in the famous oil resource destination.
The top officials expressed their pride in achieveing the world record as they wanted the Qatar region to garner  world focus  by setting the world record.This would also  lay emphasis on the infrastructure,facilities offered by the region to host a mega event like a FIFA Cup.
the Football Player jersey was unveiled to patronise this cause and this also turned to be a record breaker .The previous record for the  Largest T Shirt   measured an area of 2,782 square meters occupying the same area  similar to a tennis court  was set in South Africa in a airport in Johannesburg.
The area of Qapco's t-shirt is 3,516.25 sq m and is made of cotton. The six-tonne t-shirt had been produced in China before being transported to Doha and its location at Aspire Zone. The t-shirt was kept at Aspire, but will be housed at the Museum of Islamic Art in the future.
