Girls are crazy about
Barbie Dolls and the lady in question is a diehard fan of Barbie dolls. So
Elliot and Ruth Handler might have been very happy to know
that there has been a massive
collector of their dolls and who has taken the Barbie craze to the next level. The
moment Barbie was launched into the market in the 1960s it just got spread like
an epidemic and became a fantasy
for females all over the world. One of the most standing testimonials for this
is none other than Bettina Dorfmann from Germany. She has
collected 6,025 Barbie dolls worth £ 1,00,000 in her house. So you can be sure if
you are to visit her house you would feel as though you are entering a Barbie
Museum or a Barbie shop.
Bettina's best dolls are displayed in eight huge
glass cabinets in the top floor of her Dusseldorf home. She has turned over a
bedroom, her cellar and half the kitchen in her house to accommodate them. She
blatantly admitted that she almost knew everything about Barbie as she has been
seriously having a love affair with the dolls for the past 12 years. Bettina is
frank enough to tell us that she drives her husband crazy about her obsession
with Barbie as she tells him she is not able to get rare Barbie dolls when he
jokingly replies that how could she get the rare ones when she has collected
them all and kept in their home. Her
first one was a rare Midge doll, brought out by Mattel in 1963 and marketed as
Barbie's best friend.
Ever since Barbie was created, in 1959, it’s
estimated about 1 billion dolls have been produced, and there are over 100,000 passionate doll collectors all around the world, hunting
for the rarest items. But none of them could ever compete with Bettina‘s
passion for Barbie Doll Collection. She has amassed an impressive collection from vintage items of the 1960s to the latest models launched by Mattel. The 50 something collector
claims that she has had the obsession
for Barbies from the time she was a
little girl. Barbie dolls are one of the
best companions for a girl child. As the little girl could personify the doll
to the extent of washing her hand as if it were real, change clothes, buy new doll outfits and treat the
Barbies has real pals. Even after having
become big she finds the dolls appealing
and her daughter Melissa always seem
more interested in the new Barbies that came
out than the old ones. The attribute
that attracts the most about Barbies for Dorfmann has been the fact that the dolls
are projected as a happy and carefree symbols. This makes her
love them so much. The colourful clothes and different haircuts with varied
hair colours have the edge Barbies have enjoyed over other dolls.
The Largest Barbie Doll
collection counted to 6,025 and was set by Bettina Dusseldorf from Dusseldorf, Germany
on March 2,2009.
