Big Matzo Ball (Record Superseded in a year)

It’s made from 1,000 eggs, 80 pounds of margarine and a whole lot of matzo meal. Eat it if you dare .And yes it was made with 200 pounds of Matzo meal and 20 pounds of chicken base. So it can just leave you to smack your lips.  It’s arguably the world’s largest matzo ball and it weighs in at 267 pounds, and is 29.2 inches across. This mouthful was created to raise money for a charity game between the New York Knicks and Israeli basketball team Maccabi   Electra Tel Aviv. The massive matzo was cooked up for nearly 20 hours in a custom-made 100-gallon kettle in New Jersey. The giant culinary creation was cut into smaller pieces and doled out to diners at the Good Companions Senior Center on Madison Street, a provider of low-cost kosher lunches and fitness programs.
Noam Sokolow, owner of  the restaurant Noah’s Ark , who directed the planning and "deli development" of the  largest Matzo Ball , said that the culinary caper was an attempt to realize the impossible task. He also admitted that although the eatery has been voted   as the best for its beef sandwich   in the United States that did not satisfy their quest for success. Their dreams were big enough and wanted to achieve   something   that helps more than an appetite. They aimed at something much larger than life which come of great help to humanity. They had a philanthropic intention in mind so they went on a mega scale to reach out to more children who are in a   vulnerable   stage.
By   creating the largest Matzo ball  they  set an extraordinary standard to help the needy .  The Migdal Ohr    which is the world’s   largest orphanage  situated  in Northern Israel is a home to more than 7000  orphaned, impoverished  and under privileged kids. Sokolow organized the big Matzo ball and the big basket ball game to raise money for the welfare of those kids.
The largest Matzo ball  weighed 267 pounds  measured 29.2 inches was set by Noam Sokolow owner of Noah’s Ark Original Deli  at New York, United States of America on August 8, 2009.
