Another sandwich story comes up as a good
literary toast on your breakfast table. If you are hungry then the students of
the Windsor high School ‘s culinary programme would be serving their long and ambitious BLT Sandwich. The students from the Windsor
High School of Culinary Arts put together 146 ft long BLT Sandwich thus
demonstrating their culinary skills to the world. The budding Chefs in the
making displayed some foodie creativity to surprise many onlookers during the
event. The sandwich fest was part of the summertime Windsor Farmers
Market, which celebrated the seventh Annual Tomato and Pepper Festival.
Marie Ganister the director of the culinary programme prepared her
students for the final task. As she was overseeing the operations she was
convinced that the length of the BLT was as long as she could see either side. Then
she instructed her students to close the sandwich after getting satisfied about
the dimensions. At $5 a slice, the potential history-maker served as a
fund-raiser for the 160-student culinary program.
Windsor Town Councilman Sam Salmon took a
bite of the BLT and was delighted by its yummy
taste. He was impressed with the sandwich as he liked the lettuce, tomatoes and
good bread. The BLT sandwich happens to be a craze for many because of the
crisp bacon, voluptuous Mayonnaise, juicy tomatoes, refreshing lettuce and
fragrant toasted bread all of which make the recipe just too
irresistible. The 7th Annual Tomato and Pepper Festival got a
refreshed booster with the assistance of Windsor and El Molino High School Culinary Arts
students.
The Longest BLT sandwich measured 146 ft and was set by the
students of Windsor High School Culinary Arts at Windsor, California, United
States of America on September 8, 2008.
