Bob Marley is a well
known comedian in Maine. He can just take the entire
crowd on a laugh-a- ton
strip and would make a person giggle for a life
time. He gets a standing ovation for all his shows which stand as a perfect
testimony to his rising popularity and celebrity status. However Marley puts the famous quotient that he has earned to
good use too.
Marley used his skill
to make people laugh naturally for raising funds for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland, Maine. The guy who was
also eyeing a world record performed a 40 hour gig at the
Comedy Connection in Portland. It was a nonstop stand up routine which Marley
performed making the entire show a laugh riot with his
cool jokes. His talent was so overflowing that for the first 18 hours
Marley ensured that his jokes did not get repeated and
kept delivering fresh
comic stuff. And with so much of talent getting poured no one could hardly think of
missing that opportunity to have a thorough laughter session. This prompted his
efforts to raise
$12,000
for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.
It is like if he
opens his mouth to speak itself sends out cheer signal across
the audience. .According to the World Record Rules Marley was allowed to take a break after
every one hour and must have an official time keeper to be present. Also the rules
stated that he must have at least 10 persons as audience at all times. So in a way the rules implicitly say that the
momentum should be gong steadily to keep the audience stuck to their seats
while watching the show. And we must say Marley is one of the few men who keep
competing with themselves. He broke the previous
record of 38 hours, 6 minutes which was held by Lindsay Webb of Australia in October 2009. When he superseded the Webb’s record by
one minute he got a thumbs up from the judges and the crowd for having smashed
the earlier one.
With so much of value for entertainment coming does not come free of charge. People
have to pay to watch Bob Marley joke around, hear his comedy
and laugh at it. All the proceeds
from the ticket sales went to Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center. According to Oliver Keithly who owns Maine Comedy Connection where Marley
had performed remarked that it had taken 18 months of hard work for staging the successful record
attempt.
The longest stand up performance lasted for 40 hours and was set by Bob Marley
at Portland Comedy Connection, in
Portland, Maine, United States of America on September 27, 2010.
