Pancakes shower for Eight Hours

It is the pancake festival everywhere.  The Lubbock Lions Club is also no different to being a part of this foodie celebration. They are dedicated to the   improvement of local communities and the world  and would utilize this festive mood towards  making positive impact in the lives of  the affected and  the deprived sections of the public. In the term Lubbock Lions we mean to say in their terminology that lions are people made of a different cloth as they have indomitable spirit, compassion  to help the downtrodden, replace dismay with hope  to render strong foundations for a healthy  society. In the year 1925 inspired by Helen Keller the organization has  worked for the welfare of the blind by starting a crusade  against darkness. They started the sight programmes to prevent blindness, improve eye care  and restore eye sight to millions of people.
In this way one such efforts have been organizing the pancake festival by making as many  pan cakes as possible. Members of the  Lubbock Lions Club cooked 66,549 pancakes in eight hours (about 7,500 pancakes per hour)-setting the world record for the  most pancakes served in eight hours. It all started off as  a pancake supper and now turned out to be a pancake festival.  The name has changed in the past 57 years.
The previous world record for the  most pancakes served in eight hours  was 34,818 set by the  Fargo Kiwanis Club last year. An effort earlier this month by the Fargo Kiwanis to hold onto the title failed. The club ended up serving 32,667.
The club had trained 60 people to help count the pancakes as they came off the griddle. "I have 15 griddles here. On the day of the record event which started at 8.00 am in the morning the club started receiving guests 40 minutes prior to the starting time and had people anxiously waiting for their pancakes to be served hot. This year’s Kiwanis event was held for the first time in the Fargodome, where electric griddles were used. In past years the event was held at the Fargo Civic Center, where gas grills, which cook pancakes faster, were used.    The club donates to charities such as Meals on Wheels, the Salvation Army, and the Texas Children's Lions Camp in Kerrville, but at the end of the day, everyone comes for the same reason.
The Most number of pancakes served in eight hours counted to 66,549 pan cakes and was set by Lubbock Lions Club at Lubbock, Texas, United States of America on February 24, 2009.
