He is getting camera friendly. We aren’t talking
about taking snap shots but the man behind the lens. He has managed
to have the largest movie camera collection .The man in the news is Richard
LaRiverie founder of Museum of Motion
Pictures and Television has about 900
movie cameras giving his collection new high.
The former New England developer
and businessman, who now lives in Land O'Lakes, is making plans for a museum large
enough to house 35,000 movie artifacts, including a collection of more than 900
movie cameras. So if you are
having a craze for cameras we bet that you should visit this museum to take a
look at his extensive camera exhibition. He had organized an 18 hour video
marathon with projectors showing
short films by area film groups and other sources. The event focuses on
his mammoth camera count
and also props on display films such as
‘Cleopatra’ and ‘Tarzan’. The money raised through the programme would be used a s fund raiser or the Museum of
Motion Pictures and Television. An added attraction will be the opening of the latest
revival of one of St. Pete’s most famous watering holes for the area’s artist
fringe. Film and camera fans are invited to view the array of
movie cameras that have been used by everyone from NASA engineers and Hollywood
filmmakers to Mom and Po.
But after so much of hard work
his obsessed collection has
not yet got a sheltered proof. His nonprofit organization
is still homeless and LaRiverie has been tirelessly talking to city officials all over Tampa Bay to get
enough space for his display. He believes collecting the wide variety of
generation old camera was a real fun and
continues to do research on the subject which he believes would be a good
learning experience.
The largest collection of movie
cameras counted to 900 movie cameras and was set by Richard ‘Hyker’ LaRiverie
at Clearwater , Florida, United States of America on November 10,2009.
