Here we come across
grocery shop owners who tried their culinary skills to prove that they are not
far behind the women in the kitchen. The western Wisconsin city of
Prescott is about to become famous for cooking the world’s largest bratwurst.
A 52-foot, two-inch sausage was grilled up and served at a charity fundraiser
and made many people hop gag a over it. Pat Ptacek not only wanted to show off his cookery skills to
the world but also make the world realize his store has been in the business for 100 years. Yes it would have been a big proud
moment for this man. He would be all smiles to see his store run
successfully for such a long stint. This joy inspired him to try
something unique whereby he could make the locals and the entire world realize the accomplishment he has achieved and kept
intact for so long in this race.
He roped his
sons Tom and Raphael who also shared their father’s happiness of seeing their Prescott IGA grocery store enter its 100th
anniversary. They decided to cook a super long brat perfectly to make the celebration enter the world record
hall of fame.
Their happiness got tripled as they smashed the
previous record for the longest bratwurst
which measured 47 ft , 3 inches
set in Berghoff Restaurant in Chicago. Ptacek’s Bratwurst had smashed
the
Chicago record by over 3 ft thus
challenging others to even raise their bar of performance in the future.
Ptacek’s employees made a few shorter test brats
before creating the record sausage. And they needed a bun, so the Pan-O-Gold
Baking Company built a special steel pan and cooked the bun in a custom oven
before hauling it to Prescott – where over a dozen people were needed to cook
and prepare it. Jimmy Hanson from Pan-O-Gold Baking was summoned to get the bun ready. Hanson said the bun required 40 pounds of dough, a custom
baking pan and careful transport in a 53-foot semi trailer from the company's
Sun Prairie, WI, bakery.
The
longest brat in the world was then sold with 100% of the proceeds going to
Have-A-Heart, Inc., a local nonprofit offering respite care for families and
kids with developmental disabilities.
The
Longest Bratwurst measured 52 ft, 2 inches and was set by Prescott Grocery
Store owner Patrick Ptacek and his sons at Prescott, Wisconsin, United States
of America on October 10, 2012.
