Philippine Chefs and
students decided to bolster their cooking career with a prolific Philip. As the event held at the Araneta coliseum was sponsored by Kraft
Eden cheese, the culinary experts were required to come up with 5,000 meals
containing cheese to beat the previous record, set by India in 2007, of 4,668
dishes. Cooks from local esteemed culinary institutions including Regina
Carmeli, St. Paul College, Centro Escolar University, Emilio Aguinaldo College,
La Consolacion College and Arellano University all tried their best to come up with innovative
and tasty cheese treats.
The Chefs and students
from the finest cooking school in Manila gathered at the Araneta Coliseum to
create 5,845 cheese-based dishes. Alex Tacdera
a
representative of Kraft Foods said that the record was organized to
celebrate Philippines originality in food. Also through the record they wanted
to highlight to the world that people in
Philippines were absolute food lovers. The budding
cooks came up with their own innovative methods and added their sense of creativity into the
dish.
The
Magsaysay Institute of Hospitality and Culinary Art contributed most of the
research and student manpower in the making of the event, with the added help
of other schools such as Regina Carmeli, St. Paul College, Centro Escolar
University, Emilio Aguinaldo College, La Consolacion College, and Arellano
University. Tacdera insisted that it was important during
challenging times to stand as a Nation and not brood on losses and problems.
The purpose of the event was to come together, enrich the food with your
creativity and depict the love for food by making it
well. This could in a way empower the pride of our country.
Kraft Eden would be
organizing a “Keso de Gallo”, an event where people will
try to use Eden cheese to prepare a feast for families affected by the Ondoy
and Pepeng typhhons, who don’t have the means to celebrate Christmas this year.
This was an effort to bring smile on the faces of the less privileged and give
them more reasons to celebrate festivals.
The
Most Number of Dishes on Display counted to 5845 and was set by chefs and
students from Manila’s Best cooking Schools at Manila, Philippines on December
15,2009.
