Longest BLT Sandwich

If you are making something huge then you even have to be a bit careful apart from being ambitious. Representatives from Red Sun Greenhouse Vegetables, Dole Fresh Vegetables and Farmland Foods put together a 209 foot-long BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato) sandwich at this year's AWG Spring Tradeshow .
The volunteers assembled the sandwich with seven  cases of dole leaf lettuce  and 750 pounds of red tomatoes. The  previous world  record for  the largest open sandwich  was a barbecue  pork bun  which weighed 606.45 Kg  and was prepared by Moore’s BBQ  in New Bern, North Carolina, United States of America .
Dave Leiker, Associate’s director of produce for Kansas City said   that  It took 14 people 42 minutes to build the World's Largest BLT sandwich at the Associated Wholesale Grocers  Spring Food Show in Kansas .   Harold Parivarinta   director of Sales Red Sun   admitted   that  the idea was hatched  as it initially started out as a contest as to who could make the  best tasting BLT Sandwich. But then they realized that it would be pretty hard to judge a standalone   culinary creation. So they set out to make   3300 slices  to put in the BLT Sandwich. The finishing touch was 15 pounds of Red Sun cherry tomatoes, which were attached to the top of the sandwich with toothpicks. Just in time for lunch, and after the measurements were taken, the sandwich was cut into pieces and show attendees donated money to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to get a piece of the tasty action.
Sabrina Pokomandy   the marketing manager of  Red Sun said that apart from staging the world record the company  would happily donate $1000   to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The Longest BLT Sandwich measured 309 ft in length and was set by  Associate Wholesale Grocers  at Kansas City, United States of America on June 11, 2011.
