The All Terrain
Vehicle Association of Minnesota (ATVAM) is a state based organization to
encourage and promote the use of all-terrain vehicles in collaboration and
conjunction with other off-road motorized groups in the state of Minnesota. The
ATVAM is a grass-roots, non-profit organization established in 1983 and
currently has over 12,000 members and 70 local clubs dedicated to responsible
ATV use, safety, and the development of a sustainable ATV trail system in
Minnesota. We promote legislation and regulations favorable to use of
all-terrain vehicles in Minnesota on public lands and access to public lands as
well as the development of sustainable trails.
We promote safe use and safety training on the use of all-terrain
vehicles. The All-Terrain Vehicle Association of Minnesota (ATVAM) lined up
1,632 ATVs. It formed a parade along Minnesota's North Shore.
After hours of counting, parade chairwoman Les Schermerhorn said 1,632 ATVs
participated - shattering the old record of 1,138, set in 2006 in Kentucky. In
2008, ATVAM
made its first
attempt at breaking the World Record but fell short by only 55 ATV's. The
official count for the parade was 1,083 ATV's (three wheelers and side x sides
did not count towards the record). The
event had so many people that organizers said they needed to ride 5 miles just
to get everyone on the trail at the same time. In addition to the ride,
participants were asked to bring a donation to the Silver Bay food shelf.
It has been the goal of the organization to ensure that the over 3 lakh registered ATVers have sufficient places to ride on and
also a make the experience high on responsibility and safety.
The Largest ATV Parade was set by 1632 ATVs
at Silver Bay, Minnesota, United States of America on June 14, 2009.
