Polenta Festive Party

There should not be any doubt that Canada is the largest agricultural producer exporter in the world. This gets even more authenticated with the current spate of news and records the Nation has been doing for sometime in the farming side. Fogolar Furlan Club’s Polenta Fest returns for a second year showcasing one of the biggest cookery events. The show started off with the area’s own Liverpool Echo Beatles Tribute   Band .This was organized   on the occasion of the Fogolar Furlan’s  50th anniversary. The event was open across all ages.
Polenta is a dish made from fine-ground boiled cornmeal and has a smooth, creamy texture. It is a hearty peasant food served with sauces, sausages & salumi, or stews containing beef, veal and pork.
There was a huge crowd out pour at Windsor. More than 1500 persons   had gathered to take part   in the Polenta Festival. About 6150 pounds of Polenta was made  in a grand way.  The preparation took 6 hours in a giant vessel that weighted 771.11 kg (1,700 lbs) and measured 3.04 m (10 ft) in diameter and 1.52 m (5 ft) in depth. Ingredients included 500 kg (1102.31 lb) cornmeal, 6kg (13.23 lb) salt, 2,343.75 liters (515.55 gal, 619.15 US gal) water and 1.04 liters (0.23 gal, 0.27 US gal) olive oil. It took a total of 20 mixers to stir the polenta (in shifts) during the cooking process. The polenta was stirred using hand made wooden oars and two electric mixers. All of the cornmeal used for the attempt was put through a custom sifter to ensure the mixture would not be lumpy.   Windsor's whopping polenta was more than double the size of the previous world record holder  which had  a paltry 2,632-pound polenta made in Italy. The container  used for the polenta  had a capacity of  9500 liters.
It was indeed a huge feat accomplished   said the board member of Fogolar   Furlan  Club. It was the city’s first celebration  of the creamy corn meal  that is a staple of the Northern Italian Cuisine.
The Largest Polenta weighed 6150 pounds and was set  by Fogolar Furlan  Windsor at Windsor, Ontario, Canada on September 26, 2011.
