he Luoyang Peony is China's traditional and well-known flower. It always represents elegance and poise. With various varieties and marvelous colors, the Luoyang Peony enjoys the honor of "King of the Flower Kingdom" and "Luoyang Peony Ranking the First under Heaven". Throughout the city, you can see all kinds of peonies with colors ranging from red, pink and white to the rarest dark. When spring arrives, the whole city is soaked in the sweet smell of peony. In 1982, it was defined as the city flower of Luoyang and at the same time, a decision was made to hold an annual peony fair festival in Luoyang from April 15 to 25, concurrently with lantern shows and other forms of entertainment. Luoyang Peony Festival is very popular among Chinese tourists and among peony enthusiasts the world over. Each year from mid-April to mid-May, the peonies are in full bloom, generally reaching their peak during the period April 15th-25th, which is the date set for the annual festival. During the peonu fair, gardens are awash with colorful flowers mostly reds mixed with whites, yellows and purples set against a background of thick, vibrant, dark green leaves, like a myriad of precious stones set in bright, shiny rings.
Luoyang city  is located in the west Henan province of Central China.The  510  students from the art department of Henan Luoyang Normal University in the central metropolis painted a 510 square meters mural of the flowers ans set a new world record for the biggest color painting.The students decided to go the artistic showing their creativity using something the city is well known for all over the world.The painting, which consists of 170 three-ply boards, is little more than 510 square meters. It is 20.8 meters long and 24.5 meters wide.
The Biggest colour painting made of colourful flowers was achieved by 510 Luoyang Normal University students spanning an area of 510 square meters  (20.8 meters*24.5 meters ) at Luoyang,China on April 17,2008.
