An art work made of out of date television sets. Not a bad idea to use your creative energies to make something useful out of a e waste. That turned out to be a masterpiece made by Lithunian artist Gintaras Karosas.the sculpture named 'LNK Infotree' was made of 3000 television sets spanning an area of 3,135 square meters.
People from various towns around Lithunia donated their old dead television sets to help Karosas create the sculpture which is displayed at the Open Air Museum in Vilnius,Luthiana.
If one were to admire the structure then would just end up losing the way back from where you started.A look from the top shows the structure in a tree shaped form.
A statue of Lenin lies in the middle of the labyrinth. The sculpture symbolizes the absurdity of Soviet propaganda that for over half a century had been implanted in people’s minds with the help of senseless TV. Hence Television is used to define that so that the message sinks in deeply.
The narrow paths that dead TV sets form show its limitation. 6000 square metres of polythene, 700 square metres of bitumen cover and 90 cubic metres of wood were used to create the composition. 500 litres of highest quality Sadolin Pinotex paint were used to paint the wooden part of the sculpture. A support from the LI Sadolin made it possible.
The senseless T.V or popularly termed the 'Idiot Box' was deliberately chosen by Karosas as the television was responsible for people in the Soviet Union to get easily influenced about the Soviet propaganda for the past 50 years. So by resembling this model he wants people to throw the Soviet ideas along with the root itself from the people's mind .
The largest Art work termed by the European Union and the largest Art work made of Television sets was achieved by Gintaras Karosas at the Europos Parkas on April 23,2008.
