Largest Urn

An urn is a large decorative covered container of wood, metal, pottery, etc. In furniture, it was a large wooden vase-like container which was usually set on a pedestal on either side of a side table. This may look like some storage water tanker or so but the urn was designed and erected and entered the history of world records.
The Largest Urn  measured 16 ft tall  sporting a black and white colour as designed by Peter Brandes. The urn was installed by Richard Cohen Landscape & Construction Inc. at the Orange County Rescue Mission's village of Hope. The urn displays  the 12 disciples in raised bone-colored images and weighs an overall 16,500 pounds.
The black and white urn is a centerpiece in the plaza at the Village of Hope, a transitional facility for homeless people. It also features engraved Biblical scriptures. The urn's value is estimated at more than $300,000 and the project was funded by the Howard and Roberta Ahmanson family fund.Unlike a traditional water feature, Brandes' urn appears to float on water to mimic the Biblical story of Jesus walking on water. To make that happen, the urn is supported by a 14-inch diameter stainless steel pole.Richard Cohen was truly impressed by the work of the Rescue mission in restoring the hopes of people and striving hard in life. The mission toils for bringing about a positive change in lives of people living in the county village.
The challenge of the project, in addition to the urn's massive size, would be timing. Cohen had to coordinate his work with the urn's arrival by ship from Europe. He first constructed the urn's footing. The 6-foot-deep and 10-foot-wide black marble foundation took two months to build, requiring extensive plumbing work and enough steel reinforcement to allow the art work to withstand earthquakes.During the installation of the urn cohen went spell bound at the  quality of arrangements the villagers had put up to make  a wooden case to house the urn. Then Cohen used a diamond bladed saw to cut in to the base of the urn for the steel support pole.
The Largest Urn set by Richard Cohen measuring 16 ft in height and weighing 16,500 pounds was installed at  Tustin,California,United States of America on February 9,2010
