Longest Drumming Marathon

What better way to display a gratifying gesture to your teachers and mentors by embarking on a world record attempt.Yes that was the  idea Jagjit Singh also had in his  mind.Jagjit Singh a student of the famous  Tabla Maestro Late Ustad Allah Rakha Khan and the later's son Tabla expert Ustad Zakir Hussain.Singh has gone ahead to and played the hand drums for 5 days non stop  setting the record straight for the Longest Drumming Marathon.
That shows in his ability to play the drums with utmost refinity  as he actually  started to play the instrument at the tender age of   4 years .Getting inspired  to play  tabla from his cousin, he began under the later's guidance and further  started to get formally trained under Ustad Sushil Kumar.It was then in 1993 that he came under the tutelage of Indian classical music exponent and tabla expert Ustad Allah Rakha Khan and his son Ustad Zakir Hussain.
Jagjit Singh then later settled in Canada in the year 2000 and started to explore all styles of western music in to his tabla .He also got many opportunity to work and play along with many eminent artist from all parts of the globe.And from there on there has been no looking back for this  lanky punjabi
He has been a globe trotter all the way trying to add new dimensions to playing tabla and set the world apart by creating the world record for the longest drumming marathon.
In this way Singh has paid his due to his illustrious mentors and also bought fame to himself and music.Thus he  has also sent inspirational vibes across to all the youth who  also aspire to master Tabla and showcase their talent to the world.The longest Drumming Marathon was achieved by Singh  at Malton,Ontario,Canada on December 11,2008.
