What
about considering climbing to be a good career
option? Why not if you are really good at it then you can give it a shot? You
could be taking inspiration from 15 year old Johanna
Ernst for that. She may give you some food for
thought on this.
The
Austrian girl won the women’s lead final in the IFSC World Cup in Qinghai, Northwest,
China. Johanna ranked 21st in the world was the only athlete who had
reached the top in the final. If this was not enough she was the first
throughout in qualification, semifinals and Finals round. Qinghai is the seventh stop of this year's Climbing
World Cup series. It is the third time for this mountainous plateau province to
host the world-class climbing competition. A total of 76 athletes from 19
countries and regions participated in the game.
When
she was declared the winner an equally delighted Ernst informed her parents and
they were obviously happy
for their daughter’s achievements. She was in the European youth games
and it was
her maiden time to have attended the Climbing World Cup.
With oodles of talent within her she proved vulnerable to her opponents in the maiden
venture itself.
But
all this success that comes in your way are never easy to
conquer. Success always comes with a huge price of effort, talent and
perseverance. Yes in the process you may need some luck by your side
to get your ball pitched in the
right area. The same way it was not a cakewalk for this young girl too. The organizers designed the route and the wall all in
accordance with international game standard and restricted the time within 6
minutes, bringing more difficulty to the athletes. None of the other athletes
managed to the top in the final.
Johanna started to
learn climbing at the age of 8 years. She is a
perfect example of a true achiever and has an insatiable appetite for success. She
has
planned for the participation of the
next World Cup and eagerly awaits to see her performance and ranking around next time. So Johanna has her eyes and
goals set already but is not ready to
divulge her climbing career plans.
The youngest lead
climbing world champion was set by 15 year old Johanna Ernst at Qinghai, Xining,
China on June 29, 2008.
