Christmas going the Diwali way in Australia

Well   this   time around it is not any individual or group setting a record but a family has  entered in to the coveted hall of fame. David and Janean Richards enlightened their home with an astonishing 331,038  different lights to make their home the highlight of the city. So  Santa might have not faced any hardships to trace 3 Tennyson Crescent in the Canberra suburb of Forrest the home of the Richards  in the wee hours of Christmas night. For  Santa can be sure to have enough lights around the area   so much so that even people around could notice him on his arrival. The entire area turned luminous as ever. In their pursuit of decorating their home with the beautiful lights   they used the   new found  fame of their house to raise money for charity.
Canberra father David Richards used 29,630m of LED strings, 15,000 cable ties and one 18m of light-controlled tree (27 kilometers of lights) to become the first to hold the record for the largest outdoor Christmas lights display, according to World Record . This reindeer light display is just the tip of the iceberg, forming part of more than 330,000 Christmas lights in the world's largest   ever outdoor display. The light arrangements  was not just a day’s affair for Richards. It has taken four long  years  to  come up with the entire arrangements and design. And Mr Richards was quick enough to admit that he has had enough of setting lights display for the past four years and he now looks forward to   donate the lights to someone who would use the lights to help raise money for charity.
And to break the record they needed atleast   2,50,000  lights to script their story of success. As the previous   record  for the most lights lit  simultaneously on a Christmas tree  counted to 1,94,672. Set by Kiwanas   Malmedy in Belgium. So with the 3,30,000 lights Mr Richards has smashed the Belgium record easily.
The Largest outdoor Christmas Lights Display  counted to 3,30,000 lights with 15,000 cable ties  and was set by David Richards at Canberra ,Australia on December 6,2011.
